Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes is seeking a Commissionaire to patrol client locations in Hamilton, Ontario, and enforce access controls. You will validate visitor IDs, respond to incidents, and complete detailed reports while maintaining a high level of professionalism on-site.

Ideal applicants hold Ontario Security Guard licenses and must complete required certifications (First Aid/CPR, Use of Force) and clearance.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• WSIB accredited First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Must be able to obtain Level I (Reliability) Clearance (Canadian resident 5+ years, clean record, clean credit history).
• Must be able to pass CGL Level III Use of Force certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct property patrols of client location in accordance with site instructions.
• Check and validate identification credentials for all visitors and personnel entering the facility.
• Enforce the Trespass to Property Act when required.
• Liaise with Police, Fire, EMS as appropriate during incidents.
• Complete patrol and incident reports using reporting software and paper reports as required.
• Maintain professionalism at all times during all interactions.
• Perform end-of-shift security procedures, including locking gates and verifying premises security.
• Undertake all training assigned in a timely fashion.
• Report concerns or complaints to Supervisor or Manager.
• Be available to adjust schedule to accommodate patrol needs.
• Perform 'stand downs' at client locations to ensure continuity of guard service.

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• *Mandatory* - Must hold a ValidOntario Security Guard License.
• *Mandatory* – Valid WSIB accredited First Aid and CPR certificate
• *Mandatory* – Must be able to obtain a Level I (Reliability) Clearance (resident in Canada 5 years or longer, clean record, clean credit history)
• Must be able to pass the CGL Level III Use of Force certification
• Ability to stand/sit for a longer period of time.

• Hourly Rate of Pay: $26.36 per hour (after Use of Force certification)
• Hours of work: Saturday-Sunday
