Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes seeks a vigilant Security/Access Control professional to join our Ontario team. You will enforce access control, monitor CCTV and alarms, complete daily reports, and maintain professional conduct at client sites such as CFB Borden.

Unionized, hourly pay of $25.38, shifts 7:00-19:00 or 19:00-07:00 with backfill duties. The ideal candidate holds an Ontario Security Guard License, First Aid/CPR, and active clearances, with strong communication and computer skills for

Qualifications

• Ontario Security Guard License is required.
• First Aid and CPR certification is required.
• Level II Secret Clearance or ERS Reliability Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure access control policies are followed and client property is secured.
• Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems.
• Complete site reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports.
• Maintain professional appearance and deportment at all times.
• Respond to alarms and calls for assistance.
• Regular interior and exterior foot patrols.

INTRODUCTION

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

POSITION SUMMARY

Job type: Security/Access Control

Reports to: Site Supervisor/Regional Manager

Anticipated start date: ASAP

Posting Close Date: Until filled

Hourly Rate of Pay: $25.38 per hour (UNIONIZED)

Hours of work: 0700 to1900 or 1900 to 0700 (12 Hours)

Shifts: Backfill and Escorts (As Needed)

Location: 14 Centurion Close, CFB Borden, Ontario

Accessible by Transit: No

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure access control policies and procedures are followed and client property is secured
• Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems
• Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
• Complete site reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Maintain effective communication
• Respond to alarms and calls for assistance
• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors
• Regular interior and exterior foot patrols
• Make sure the Security Desk is always monitored
• Able to operate a computer badging system when needed
• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• Level II Secret Clearance AND ERS Reliability Clearance or Greater.
• The ability to stand for long periods of time and complete frequent patrols
• Good understanding of computers
• Customer service/reception/administrative skills
• The ability to work alone while maintaining a high level of service to the client is essential
