Job summary

Commissionaires Ottawa in Gatineau is seeking security personnel to join our team. We provide free BSP training and support to obtain your security guard licence, so no prior experience is required.

If you already hold BSP, you can start sooner and contribute to protecting critical sites. You will perform access control, patrolling, incident response, and reporting across a rotating schedule that includes days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Professional attitude, reliability and maturity.
• Customer service orientation and good communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for long periods, regardless of the weather.
• Basic computer skills (emails, report writing).
• Eligibility for a Secret-level security clearance (PSPC) – two pieces of government-issued ID required.
• BSP licence is a strong asset; training to obtain it is provided.

Responsibilities

• Control access to facilities and greet the public.
• Conduct regular patrols indoors and outdoors.
• Respond quickly to situations and incidents in the field.
• Monitor security systems and write reports.
• Work a rotating schedule typical of the unionized security field (days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays, on rotation).

Your Role as a Security Guard

Every day is different. You may be called upon to:
