Paladin Security in London, Ontario, is seeking a full‑time Security Guard to be a calm, reassuring presence for library patrons and staff. You will patrol interior and exterior areas, manage building access, and assist with opening and closing duties.

The Central Public Library in London, Ontario, is a vital community hub that welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. We are looking for a full-time Security Guard who wants to do more than just patrol—someone who wants to be a positive, reassuring presence in their local community. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment where patrons, staff, and volunteers feel comfortable. • Pay Rate: $21.85 per hour (with overtime calculated in accordance with the Employment Standards Act)
• Schedule: Monday to Thursday (2:00 PM to 10:00 PM) and Friday (11:00 AM to 7:00 PM)

What Success Looks Like

On a day-to-day basis, you will keep the library safe and welcoming. You will do this by:

• Conducting regular interior and exterior patrols, managing facility access, and assisting with the daily opening and closing of the building.
• Monitoring alarm systems and video surveillance equipment.
• Supporting library staff and visitors by applying the Library’s Rules of Conduct in a fair, dignified, and consistent manner.
• Acting as the primary First Aid responder on‑site, which includes using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and administering Naloxone if necessary.
• Documenting both minor and major incidents thoroughly using the library's digital reporting tool.

Over time, success means becoming a trusted, reliable face in the library. You will build strong relationships with library staff, volunteers, and regular patrons. By combining professional security protocols with empathy and strong de‑escalation skills, you will resolve conflicts before they grow and help maintain the library as a peaceful community space.

What You Need to Apply

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements:

• A valid First Aid & CPR Level C certification from a WSIB-approved provider.
• A completed college diploma or university degree.
• At least two years of experience working in the security industry.
• Fluency in English (both written and verbal).
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Assets (Nice-to-Have)

• Previous experience in a customer service or community-facing role.
• Prior training or experience in crisis intervention, mental health awareness, or de‑escalation.
