Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Casual Healthcare Security Guard to support Smiths Falls Hospital, Perth Hospital, and Lanark County Mental Health. The role involves patrolling facilities, supervising patients where required, and ensuring safety and compliance across sites within a community healthcare setting.

Flexibility is essential to cover 2–3 twelve-hour shifts per week with cross-training across facilities.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work legally in Canada.
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certificate.
• Ability to be clean shaven for N95 Mask Fit Test.
• Proof of two COVID-19 vaccines.
• Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.
• 6+ months of customer service experience preferred.
• Prerequisites: Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) certifications; training may be provided with a 6-month commitment.
• Onboarding trainings in Kingston and ongoing development required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive interior and exterior security patrols, including in inclement weather.
• Monitor and supervise patients as required.
• Respond to incidents calmly and de-escalate conflicts.
• Investigate routine incidents and prepare clear end-of-shift reports.
• Enforce site bylaws and Paladin/client policies.
• Coordinate with on-site staff to meet operational needs.
• Sit or stand for up to 12 hours per shift.
• Participate in ongoing training and development.

Note: Applicants must have flexible availability to work 2 to 3 12-hour shifts per week and be comfortable cross training at multiple facilities.

Job Description:

• Conduct proactive and reactive interior and exterior security patrols, including in inclement weather
• Monitor and supervise patients asrequired
• Respond to incidents, remain calm in emergencies, and use effective conflict management and verbal de-escalation techniques
• Investigate routine incidents and complete clear,accurateincident and end-of-shift reports
• Enforce parking, smoking, site by-laws, and all client and Paladin policies and procedures
• Liaise with Paladin management and on-site staff to meet operational requirements
• Operate independently and as part of a team to complete assigned duties
• Sit or stand for up to 12 hours per shift
• Participate in ongoing training and development as directed
• Additional Duties as Assigned

Job Requirements:

• Authorized to legally work in Canada
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certificate (from a WSIB-approved provider)
• Ability to be clean shaven for an N95 Mask Fit Test
• Proof of minimum two COVID-19 Vaccines
• A copy of your immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B, and TB Skin Tests - Step 1 & 2)
• Ability to clear a Vulnerable Sector Check (during onboarding)
• 6+ months of customer service experience preferred
• Must be able to provide pre-requisite certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of AggressiveBehaviour(MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin'sUoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: TheUoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite,however Paladin will coverall ofthe costs of the training with a6 monthcommitment to the position/availability
• Complete mandatory onboarding and training with Paladin in Kingston, with ongoing training & development as directed by Paladin Management or the client
• Commit to the position for 6 months
