Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking motivated individuals to begin a career in security. This entry-level role offers training and certifications through our program with education reimbursement from JIBC, aimed at candidates without a current BC Security License.

You will work across healthcare facilities, government buildings, retail centers, and more. Pre-employment compensation is not provided; compensation begins after deployment to a site and completion of requirements.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal); detailed incident reports may be used in court.
• Experience in customer service environment is preferred.
• Confidence interacting with team members, client personnel, and emergency services.

Responsibilities

• Assist with staff escorts and de-escalation to protect healthcare workers and visitors.
• Respond to alarms and support operations during emergencies with leadership.
• Conduct regular patrols at government buildings and monitor entrances/exits.
• Investigate incidents in shopping centres, perform patrols, interact with tenants and the public, and enforce rules.

Overview

Paladin Security is excited to offer a unique opportunity for individuals interested in starting a career in security. We are currently seeking motivated and ambitious candidates who do not have a current valid BC Security License. This position is designed to provide required training and certifications to individuals who are not yet licensed, but are eager to enter the security industry. We will work with you to receive your training directly from the JIBC with our education reimbursement program.

Responsibilities

• Health Clinics: Our Officers assist with staff escorts, emergency requests, while utilizing de-escalation skills in order to ensure the safety of our healthcare workers and visitors.
• Mobile Division: Our Mobile officers swiftly respond to alarms, report security breaches and property damage, and provide leadership in emergency situations, supporting our Operations Centre Team.
• Government Buildings: Our Officers at these facilities conduct regular patrols of the premises, monitor property entrance, authorize entrance of people, secure exits, respond to alarms and more!
• Shopping Centres: Our Officers at these facilities are responsible for completing investigations, incident reports and will be expected to perform constant patrols and interact with tenants and members of the public to provide direction and promote good customer service while providing a security presence. You will respond to all emergencies, take the lead role in all incidents involving violent individuals, conduct arrests, enforce mall rules, and remove vagrants from the property.

You're a Great Fit if You Have:

• Legally Authorized to work in Canada
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal); you will need to write detailed incident reports which may be utilized in court if subpoenaed
• Experience working or volunteering in a customer service environment
• Confidence interacting verbally with team members, client personnel, members of the public, and emergency services
• A passion for being active, since your patrols may be indoors or outdoors, in all weather conditions, and can include stairwells, uneven surfaces, and parkades
• Physical ability to stand and/or patrol for the majority of a shift
• Confidence approaching and leading in emergency situations, including trauma, aggression, intoxication, bodily fluids, etc.
• A keen eye for watching and reporting irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations
• Basic skills in utilizing technology, including writing reports on a computer, tracking patrols in a smartphone, and communicating via two-way radio
• Many of our sites are accessible by transit, but it's an asset if you have your own vehicle and a Class 5 BC Driver's License! It's also an asset if you already have other related certifications or clearances, such as Basic First Aid.
