Job summary

Dawson Road Maintenance in Fort St. John, BC is hiring Seasonal Operators with a Class 1 or 3 license to navigate frozen roads, clear snow and ice, and perform related duties to keep our roadways safe for travelers.

This temporary, full-time role reports to the Road Foreperson and requires proven road maintenance experience, strong safety focus, and the ability to work across our service area including Montney, Hudson's Hope, Rose Prairie, and other communities in B.C. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of road maintenance and/or construction experience.
• Valid Class 1 preferred, or 3 Driver's license required.
• Two years commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Snow removal experience is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of road construction materials, processes and industry requirements.
• Heavy Equipment Operating Certificate is an asset.
• Able to manage electronic reporting using tablets.
• Minor equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job.
• Work collaboratively with all team members to complete tasks and keep roads safe and service area clean.
• Perform unskilled manual work requiring little training but involving physical effort.
• Operate heavy equipment in all weather conditions on public roadways safely.
• Follow supervisor directions regarding daily production schedule and activities.
• Maintain daily activity logs and status of completion.
• Maintain proper care in use and maintenance of equipment.
• Complete all work reports and maintenance logs.
