Job summary

Waste Connections of Canada in Brantford, Ontario is hiring a driver helper to support our solid waste collection teams on designated routes. You will assist with loading waste, back up the driver, and perform basic safety checks to help deliver reliable service to local residents and businesses.

This role requires physical stamina, teamwork, and punctuality. Seasonal hours run April to December with competitive pay of $25.18/h plus benefits such as an Employee Assistance Program and a stock

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable with repetitive motion, walking, bending, lifting, and weather conditions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the collection of solid waste by manually loading garbage, recycling, and yard waste into the truck on designated routes.
• Assisting the garbage truck driver with backing and other maneuvers
• Stepping on and off the garbage truck repeatedly throughout the day in a safe and efficient manner.
• Following route sheets and instructions from the driver or dispatcher to ensure all stops are serviced.
• Maintaining cleanliness around collection and dumping areas by picking up any spilled waste.
• Performing basic safety checks on equipment and reporting any issues to the driver or supervisor.
• Interacting professionally and courteously with customers when necessary.
• Performing other related duties as assigned by the driver or supervisor.

What We Need From You

• Comfortable with repetitive motion, including walking, bending, lifting, and climbing.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Previous experience in waste collection or manual labor is an asset.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
