Job summary

Waste Connections of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to perform front-end loaders, skid steers, and excavators, maintain equipment, and ensure safe, efficient operations. The role includes sorting recyclables, working 9–10 hours daily, with competitive wages and benefits. The position is full-time and on-site at our facility in Ottawa.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience running heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers and excavators.
  • Ensuring recycled material is sorted into the appropriate piles and loaded into trailers as needed.
  • Performing routine inspection and maintenance on equipment.
  • Ensuring a safe and clean working space for all operators and employees.
  • Promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Interacting with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine safe and environmentally sound solutions to service issues.

What We Need From You
