Job summary

The Salvation Army is hiring a temporary Christmas Support Worker in Ontario to assist with the Family Care Centre during the festive season. The role involves handling donations, organizing toy and food hampers, and supporting the kettle campaign.

Requires high school completion, 1 year of related community program experience, and a valid Ontario G driver's license. The position offers 25 hours per week at a pay rate of CAD 18.50–23.13 per hour, with potential higher shifts.

Qualifications

• Completed High School or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of related experience working in community-based programs.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office products and good working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs.
• Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing, unloading, documenting, and sorting donations of toys and food for the Christmas program and assist with preparing donated items for distribution.
• Assist with pick-ups of food and toy donations from community donors using program vehicle.
• Assist with set up and take down of toy and food Christmas hamper distribution centre.
• Record statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas.
• Assist in the Kettle campaign where needed through dropping off documentation, covering breaks, checking on volunteers, picking up donations at end of day.
