Job Title: Scrum Master
Location: 7000 - 113 Street Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T6H 5T6 (Primarily Remote with Occasional Onsite Work)
Duration: 12 Months (Full-Time, 7.25 Hours/Day)
Possible Extension: Up to 24 Months
Security Requirements
- Criminal Record Check required prior to onboarding.
- Enhanced Security Clearance required for roles supporting the Ministry of Justice.
- Potential need for RCMP Top Secret Clearance—applicants must be eligible.
- Each proposed Scrum Master must provide two (2) project examples
Scope of Services
The Scrum Master(s) will work full-time across 2–3 projects, responsible for managing agile delivery and coaching GoA product teams. Key responsibilities include:
Agile Leadership & Coaching
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum principles, policies, and procedures.
- Promote Agile culture, team accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide Agile coaching to team members and Product Owners.
Scrum Facilitation
- Lead key agile ceremonies: planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews/demos, retrospectives, backlog grooming.
- Facilitate ad hoc collaboration to resolve blockers and align with sprint commitments.
Delivery Management
- Support backlog refinement and sprint planning aligned with product owner priorities.
- Track and report delivery progress using Agile metrics (velocity, burn-down charts, etc.).
- Maintain delivery transparency with stakeholders and leadership.
- Guide Product Owners on release planning, roadmapping, and delivery reporting.
Participation in Design & Research
- Engage in user research and usability testing.
- Adapt plans based on user feedback, emergent needs, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with UX and service design experts as needed.
Mandatory Requirements
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent (attach proof)
- Agile Facilitation- Minimum 2 years leading Agile ceremonies
- Agile Mentorship- Minimum 2 years mentoring teams in Agile policies and practices
- Planning Experience- Minimum 2 years planning team work aligned with Product Owner priorities
- Web Training Experience- Minimum 2 years delivering training using web-based tools
- Software Development- Minimum 2 years in software development environments
- Agile Project Experience- Minimum 5 years working on Agile and service design-based projects
- Methodologies Knowledge- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Kanban, and hybrid models
Nice to Have Qualifications
- Public Sector Experience- 2+ years
- Web Services/Dev Experience- 5+ years
- Stakeholder Engagement- 5+ years working with cross-sector stakeholders
- UX/Design Collaboration- 1+ years working with teams incorporating UX/design work
