Job summary

AbCellera Biologics Inc. invites motivated students to join a 12-month internship in Vancouver, starting January 2027. You will work across Biology, Protein Science, and Translational Science teams, gaining hands-on experience in screening, cloning, purification, PK studies and quality control.

We offer mentorship, exposure to real projects, and the chance to contribute to antibody-based medicines while developing practical lab skills in a collaborative biotech environment.

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in biology-related fields with wet-lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Support high-throughput screening workflows and prepare cell isolates.
• Assist DNA cloning, library production, protein purification and related workflows.
• Contribute to PK studies, ELISA, mesoscale assays, flow cytometry and tissue processing.
• Perform routine analyses of samples in Process Development; operate analytical instruments.
• Support analytical or microbiology lab activities, including GMP testing and data review.

Job description

We are looking for motivated and talented individuals either currently pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology, etc) to join our scientific teams for a 12-month term, starting in January 2027.

During this internship, based in beautiful Vancouver, you'll join one of Canada's top biotech companies, working alongside and receiving mentorship from a team that believes deeply in collaboration, innovation, and mutual support. Our internships are designed to offer exposure to real-world projects, and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada. How you might spend your days

• Biology Focus: Supporting high-throughput screening workflows, preparing cell isolates from primary sources, executing cell enrichment protocols, developing and performing complex functional assays, and maintaining cell stocks and freezer inventories.
• Protein Science: Supporting DNA cloning, library production, protein purification, conjugation and quality assessment workflows. There may be opportunities to work on antibodies and multispecifics early developability assessment, including working with liquid handlers.
• Translational Science: Supporting pharmacokinetic (PK) or in vivo disease model studies through various lab techniques including plate-based analyses (ELISA and mesoscale), flow cytometry, tissue processing, and cell culture. There will be opportunities to perform established assays and also contribute to the development and optimization of new assays.
• Process Development: Performing routine analyses of samples in support of Process Development, and running a variety of analytical instruments including UPLC, UV-VIS, plate reader, automated liquid handlers, and pH meters.
• Quality Control: Supporting analytical or microbiology laboratory activities, including sample and reagent preparation, GMP testing, laboratory documentation, investigation or troubleshooting work, and data analysis and review. Depending on project needs, students may also assist with environmental and utility monitoring, and equipment-related activities.

All lab-based interns may also spend time: Supporting core lab leadership and project teams to meet deliverables and timelines; preparing, labelling and aliquoting common lab reagents and bulk media to support scientific workflows; maintaining and implementing standard operating procedures while recognizing and addressing opportunities for improvements; performing lab organization and maintenance tasks, such as chemical inventory checks and setting up new instruments.

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,400 - $3,800 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all!), and sick leave time while on your internship.
