Job summary

AbCellera Biologics Inc. in Vancouver, BC is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to join the In Vivo Pharmacology team.

You will work hands-on in the lab to support in vivo studies, helping reveal how drug candidates behave in relevant biological settings and informing go/no-go decisions. You will develop and optimize assays, coordinate CRO studies, and maintain meticulous records to generate high-quality data that supports therapy development.

Qualifications

• MSc or BSc with 2-5 years of industry experience and hands-on bioanalytical assays.
• Experience with animal handling or tissue collection is an asset.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and maintain ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, perform and optimize assays (ELISA, qPCR, western blot) on study samples.
• Coordinate external CRO studies, manage sample handling and invoicing.
• Maintain lab space and equipment readiness for study days.
• Generate and analyze data with GraphPad Prism and maintain records.

Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Research Scientist to join our In Vivo Pharmacology team. Working hands-on in the lab alongside experienced pharmacologists, you’ll help build the foundation of scientific rigour that our programs are built on. You’ll support the preparation and analytical phases of in vivo studies that reveal how our drug candidates behave in relevant biological settings - work that feeds directly into the go/no-go decisions shaping which programs move forward to becoming medicines.

How you might spend your days

• Developing, performing and optimizing assays to analyze samples, including tissue dissociation, flow-cytometry, ELISA, MSD, cell culture, and other molecular biology assays on study samples (e.g., RNA extraction, qPCR or western blotting)
• Supporting scientists in the coordination of external studies conducted by CROs, managing laboratory sample handling (aliquoting and shipping) and core administrative operations, including PO generation and invoice processing
• Maintaining the lab space, ensuring all reagents and specialized equipment are ready for study days
• Generating high-quality, reliable data by maintaining meticulous records in an electronic lab notebook and analyzing results using GraphPad Prism and other specialized software
• Coordinating internal in vivo studies by supporting reagent preparation, aliquoting, sample inventory, and handling

• You have an MSc, or a BSc with 2-5 years of experience, preferably in an industry setting, with 2+ years of hands-on experience in relevant bioanalytical assays; experience with animal handling and/or tissue collection is an asset
• You are genuinely curious and thrive in cross-functional teams and a fast-paced environment
• You have a strong understanding of research ethics
• You communicate scientific and technical concepts clearly, with a focus on practical application
• You are able to support project needs and follow up with constructing and implementing solutions
• You enjoy the teamwork that comes with working through complicated biological questions and building data sets that help to predict the success of therapies together

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $68,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
