Job summary

The Custodian contributes to the effective operation of the Operations Services Department within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. The custodian maintains a clean, sanitary and attractive appearance of school buildings and facilities by performing cleaning and maintenance duties in a professional, efficient, proactive and safe manner.

This position reports to the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor, and is under the NSUPE collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs to perform cleaning tasks.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Able to work all shift schedules including day, evening and nights.
• Previous janitorial experience is an asset.
