Job summary

New Frontiers School Board is seeking a dedicated attendant to support handicapped students during school activities adhering to individualized education plans. The role involves assisting with mobility, personal care, meals, and safety while promoting a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities include supervision during breaks, accompanying students to therapies if needed, and recording observations to inform teachers and staff.

Qualifications

• Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in assistance to patients or residents in health care establishments or an equivalent credential.
• Requires Secondary V School Diploma or equivalent recognized by competent authority.
• Requires one (1) year of pertinent experience in areas requiring self-discipline, psychology concepts and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist handicapped students in participating in school activities and move them between locations.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, meals, dressing and safety as per the individualized education plan.
• Supervise and support students, convey basic concepts, accompany to therapies if needed, and record observations.
