Job summary

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) seeks an Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs within a school setting. The role involves collaboration with teaching staff, implementing special programs, and assisting with diverse student supports including autism, developmental disabilities, and assistive technologies.

The successful candidate will have a community college diploma in relevant fields, 1–2 years of related experience, and training in crisis intervention

Qualifications

• Diploma in Developmental Services Worker or equivalent.
• Experience with school-aged children with special needs preferred.
• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/TCI or BMS is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support students with exceptional needs under supervision of the Principal.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement individualized programs.
• Assist with pool programs, physiotherapy exercises, and specialized activities.
• Modify programs for students with learning or speech/language needs as required.
