Job summary

Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with special needs, including physical, intellectual and behavioural challenges. The role provides academic, physical and emotional support to foster independence and individual talents within the school team.

The position works 33.83 hours per week, with schedule to be determined by the Principal. The Board emphasizes inclusion, equity and safety across its schools, and accessibility

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in a related field, or an Educational Assistant Apprenticeship Certificate.
• 2-3 years prior experience with Special Needs students.
• Experience working with students with severe behavioural/emotional difficulties.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with Special Needs (physical, intellectual, behavioural or other learning needs).
• Provide academic, physical and emotional support to students to promote independence.
• Support the development of individual talents and student confidence within the school team.
• Schedule to be determined by the Principal.
