Job summary

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support early childhood development at Burkevale Protestant S.S., Penetanguishene. This part-time role involves hands-on care, play-based learning, and close collaboration with families and staff.

Responsibilities include supervising groups, ensuring safety, and providing inclusive activities for children, with a focus on positive communication and adherence to schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18+.
• Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR (Level C) or completion within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including toileting/diaper changes, first aid, medications and health monitoring.
• Supervise and ensure safety of up to 15 children in group settings.
• Plan and implement play-based learning aligned with YMCA Curriculum.
• Maintain positive, professional communication with families and staff.
• Create an inclusive environment supporting children with special needs and behavioural challenges.
• Model and uphold the YMCA Mission, Vision and Values.
• Adhere to schedules to maintain ratios and notify supervisor of changes.
• Demonstrate flexibility with routines and schedules.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
