Job summary

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Regular full-time Scheduler/Timekeeper to join the Collections Operations West team in Edmonton, Alberta. You will plan and create work schedules, perform timekeeping and payroll tasks, and ensure records meet policy requirements.

Requirements include 3+ years scheduling experience, strong Word/Excel skills, and excellent communication. Training is onsite; hours are Monday to Friday, with a 7:00–15:00 schedule.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • A minimum of three years of scheduling experience in a related position, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Strong computer skills using Word and Excel, plus familiarity with Windows OS and Outlook. SAP is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information with deductive reasoning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, plus superior organization and multi-tasking.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of employee information is critical.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and plan staffing requirements with Managers/Supervisors to meet operational needs.
  • Prepare, create or revise work schedules according to Collective Agreement requirements.
  • Replace staff sick calls and maintain vacation calendars for the department.
  • Perform timekeeping and payroll functions for all Supply Chain employees.
  • Maintain accurate records and perform other required activities.

About The Role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Scheduler/Timekeeper to join our dynamic Collections Operations West team.

The Collections Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and creating work schedules and completing associated scheduling and timekeeping functions that meet operational needs. These functions will be performed in accordance with Canadian Blood Services policies.

Formula for success
  • Assess and plan staffing requirements in consultation with Manager/Supervisors to meet operational needs.
  • Prepare/create/revise work schedules according to Collective Agreement requirements.
  • Responsible for replacing staff sick calls and creating and maintaining department-specific vacation calendars.
  • Performs timekeeping/payroll functions for all Supply Chain employees.
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Performs other activities as required.
Desired Education And Skills
  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • A minimum of three years of scheduling experience in related position, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Strong computer skills using Word and Excel, and a strong working knowledge of personal computers with a preference given to experience with a Windows operating system and Microsoft Outlook. Testing on Excel skills may be conducted.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information with a high degree of deductive reasoning.
  • Essential to your success are your excellent communication (written and verbal), customer service and interpersonal skills, as are your superior organizational skills and your ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of employee information is critical.
  • Previous experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Accuracy with attention to detail.

What You Can Expect
  • Hours of operation for this role are Monday to Friday 07:00 - 15:00.
    • Training for this position may take 2-4 weeks, and shifts may include 0600 - 1400. Training will be done 100% onsite.
  • This position is located 8249 114 St NW, Edmonton, Alberta.
