Job summary

Canadian Blood Services in Dartmouth, NS is seeking a Regular full-time Scheduler/Timekeeper to join the Collections Operations East team. You will plan and create work schedules and handle associated timekeeping duties to meet operational needs in accordance with policies.

The role requires post-secondary education, at least three years scheduling experience, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), and excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline.
  • At least three years of scheduling experience in a regulated environment.
  • Strong Word and Excel skills; proficient with Windows and Outlook.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information with deductive reasoning.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidential handling of employee information.
  • SAP experience is an asset.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and plan staffing requirements with Manager/Supervisor to meet operational needs.
  • Prepare and revise work schedules according to Collective Agreement requirements.
  • Replace staff sick calls and maintain department-specific vacation calendars.
  • Perform timekeeping/payroll functions for all Supply Chain employees.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Perform other activities as required.

About The Role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Scheduler/Timekeeper to join our dynamic Collections Operations East team in Dartmouth.

The Collections Operations East team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting donor blood in a safe manager to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and creating work schedules and completing associated scheduling associated scheduling and timekeeping functions that meet operational needs. These functions will be performed in accordance with Canadian Blood Services policies.

Formula for success
  • Assess and plan staffing requirements in consultation with Manager/Supervisor to meet operational needs.
  • Prepare/create/revise work schedules according to Collective Agreement requirements.
  • Responsible for replacing staff sick calls and creating and maintaining department-specific vacation calendars.
  • Performs timekeeping/payroll functions for all Supply Chain employees.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Performs other activities as required.
Desired Education And Skills
  • Completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Minimum three years (3) of scheduling experience in related position, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Strong computer skills using Word and Excel, and a strong working knowledge of personal computers with a preference given to experience with a Windows operating system and Microsoft Outlook. Testing on Excel skills may be conducted.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information with a high degree of deductive reasoning.
  • Essential to your success are your excellent communication (written and verbal), customer service and interpersonal skills, as are superior organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of employee information is critical.
  • Previous experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Accuracy with attention to detail.
