Job summary

MaKami College in Alberta seeks a Salt Facilitator to support student success by addressing academic, personal, and campus-related challenges. You will be the first contact for students seeking support services, guiding them on academic advising, accessibility services, mental health support, and financial aid.

You will liaise with Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Mental Health Services, and Accessibility Services to ensure students receive appropriate referrals and resources.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Office Administration from a recognized institution.
  • At least two years of experience in an administrative role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in an additional language is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, grammar and spelling.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in navigating challenges related to academics, personal well-being, and campus life.
  • Act as the first point of contact for students seeking support services.
  • Provide basic information on academic advising, accessibility services, mental health support, and financial aid.
  • Liaise between students and internal departments (Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Mental Health Services, Accessibility Services).
  • Assist with referrals to internal and external resources.
  • Provide guidance on college policies, procedures, and available student resources.
  • Ensure students are connected with the appropriate advisors, counselors, and specialists for their needs.
  • Maintain records of student interactions and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Promote student involvement in college activities and leadership programs.
  • Collaborate with student organizations to foster an inclusive campus culture.
  • Identify students in distress and provide immediate support and referrals.

The SALT Facilitator plays a key role in supporting student success by assisting them in overcoming academic, personal, and campus-related challenges. As the first point of contact for students seeking support services, this position provides essential guidance on academic advising, accessibility services, mental health support, and financial aid. This role is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment, advocating for student needs, and contributing to their overall well-being and academic success.

  • Maintain accurate student records and reports in compliance with college policies and privacy regulations.
  • Develop and distribute informational materials on student services, campus policies, and wellness resources.
Requirements
