The primary responsibility of the Digital Marketing and Social Media Management LA is to provide academic support to students enrolled in the Digital Marketing and Social Media Management program. In addition, it is the responsibility of the LA to provide an engaging, supportive, and meaningful learning experience that strengthens student understanding, builds confidence, and supports successful progression through digital marketing coursework and applied software-based learning.

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provide individual and small-group tutoring to students in the Digital Marketing and Social Media Management program.
  • Support student learning in areas such as social media marketing, content creation, search engine optimization, paid advertising, analytics, website design, graphic design, video editing, and digital marketing strategy.
  • Demonstrate digital marketing tools and software applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canva, analytics tools, and other platforms used within the program.
  • Assist students in developing study strategies, assignment planning, software skills, applied project skills, and confidence with course concepts.
  • Collaborate with the Program Head, instructors, the Student Success Centre (SSC), learning strategists, and the student in developing tutoring plans that reflect individual learning needs.
  • Prepare tutoring sessions, examples, learning activities, and supplemental materials to support student academic development.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and identify when additional academic, technical, or learning strategy support may be required.
  • Monitor student engagement and progress during tutoring sessions and communicate concerns regarding academic performance, attendance, or readiness to appropriate College supports.
  • Support students with different ability levels, accommodations, learning backgrounds, and levels of digital literacy.
  • Participate in tutor training, meetings, and development sessions as required.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accurate communication when working with students and College staff.
  • Other duties as assigned, which are deemed necessary to support the College in achieving its goals and objectives.
Education and Experience
  • Diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Design, or a related field required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in digital marketing, social media management, content creation, or a related professional role required.
  • Demonstrated experience in key digital marketing areas such as graphic design, website design, search engine optimization, online advertising, social media marketing, analytics, and campaign development required.
  • Demonstrated experience using digital marketing and design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, WordPress, Canva, and related tools required.
  • Knowledge of specialized digital marketing topics such as pay-per-click advertising, analytics, artificial intelligence tools, content planning, and audience engagement required.
  • Experience teaching, tutoring, training, mentoring, or facilitating learning for adult learners is an asset, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
  • Experience with online learning platforms such as Moodle is an asset.
  • Current industry certifications in digital marketing, analytics, paid advertising, social media platforms, or related areas are an asset.

  • Ability to engage, motivate, and support adult learners.
  • Ability to explain concepts, demonstrate skills, and walk students through software and applied digital marketing tasks.

  • Ability to adapt tutoring approaches for students with diverse learning needs, accommodations, backgrounds, and skill levels.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with College staff and academic support teams.
