Job description

The Sales Engineer position shall have the responsibility and accountability for sales of High-efficiency Welded and Plate & Frame Heat Exchangers to direct-buying Top-Tier and Mid-Market accounts, with a particular focus on energy efficiency and upgrading/value-based sales. Sales of Compact Welded and Plate & Frame Heat Exchangers to direct-buying Top-Tier and Mid-Market accounts, with a focus on energy efficiency and value-based sales. Targeted industry segments include end-users and EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) companies in Chemical Production, Mineral Processing, Pulp & Paper, and potentially Oil & Gas industries.

This position reports to Alfa Laval's Canadian Corporate headquarters in Scarborough, Ontario. The successful candidate can be based in Scarborough, Calgary, or the Montreal/Quebec area.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Prospecting and managing leads from the market and potential customers to identify new business opportunities, converting leads into real opportunities to ensure sustainable growth.
  2. Engaging actively with customers both online and in person to build strong relationships as a trusted partner and provide excellent customer experience.
  3. Analyzing market insights and customer buying behavior to develop sales plans aligned with division strategies and targets, in collaboration with sales team leaders.
  4. Developing value-based quotes tailored to customer needs, emphasizing unique selling points and benefits.
  5. Utilizing the company's CRM and other tools consistently to support sales activities, decision-making, and follow-up.
  6. Supporting other team members in the Energy Process HX team as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Applied Science/Engineering or an Engineering Technologist diploma, preferably in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum disciplines.

Experience: 3-10 years of post-education sales or sales engineering experience in targeted industry segments.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Self-starter with proactive sales planning skills.
  • Strong prospecting and lead conversion abilities, with a 'hunter' mentality.
  • Understanding of common unit operations and customer values within target segments.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic business plans.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluent or professional proficiency in French is highly valued.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Collaborative mindset within local teams and global organization.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer products and applications relevant to target segments.
