Job summary

Besco Grain in Canada is seeking a Sales Account Manager to develop, maintain, and grow customer relationships while driving sales and profitability across assigned accounts. You will be the primary contact for customers, ensuring exceptional service through effective communication, accurate order management, and proactive problem-solving.

You will work closely with Operations, Logistics, Finance, and Quality Assurance to deliver solutions that meet customer needs and support Besco Grain's

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in account management, sales, customer service, or a related role.
  • Associate degree in Business, Agriculture, Marketing or related field preferred.
  • Experience in agriculture, grain, feed, or commodity industry is an asset.
  • Ability to travel approx. 10% domestically and internationally.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to promote long-term partnerships.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Prepare pricing proposals and sales contracts; manage customer accounts.
  • Process orders accurately and coordinate with operations for timely fulfillment.
  • Forecast product demand and monitor inventory requirements.
  • Collaborate with logistics, purchasing, operations, and accounting to meet expectations.
  • Analyze sales data and develop strategic account plans.
  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and account performance updates.

Job description

The Sales Account Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing customer relationships while driving sales and profitability across assigned accounts. This position serves as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring exceptional service through effective communication, accurate order management, and proactive problem-solving. The Sales Account Manager works closely with internal departments including Operations, Logistics, Finance/Accounting, and Quality Assurance/Food Safety to deliver solutions that meet customer needs while supporting the company's strategic sales objectives.

Essential Job Functions
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to promote long-term business partnerships.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Manage customer accounts by preparing pricing proposals and sales contracts.
  • Process customer orders accurately and coordinate with operations to ensure timely fulfillment.
  • Monitor customer inventory requirements and forecast product demand when applicable.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries, concerns, and service issues while providing effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales activities, and forecasts using the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, operations, and accounting to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and industry trends to identify growth opportunities.
  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, budgets, and account performance updates for management.
  • Meet or exceed established sales, margin, and customer retention goals.
  • Participate in customer visits, trade shows, industry events, and networking opportunities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Related Job Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Business, Agriculture, Marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in account management, sales, customer service, or a related role.
  • Experience within the agriculture, grain, feed, or commodity industry is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software programs.
  • Experience with ERP software is preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time to customer locations and industry events as required, both domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and develop strategic account plans.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience planning and coordinating domestic and international freight, including carrier management, customs documentation, and shipment scheduling, is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with logistics providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal operations teams to ensure timely and cost-effective product delivery.
  • Ability to operate in a hybrid work environment, with approximately 50% of working time performed remotely and the remaining time based in the office or other company-designated locations, subject to business needs.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $150,000.00 (base + sales commissions per year)
