Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager / Account Manager to drive business development and manage key customer relationships within the food manufacturing industry. This role is highly external-facing and involves frequent customer visits, trade show participation, and industry networking. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge (food science or chemistry) with proven B2B sales experience and an existing network within the food industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and grow sales with food and beverage manufacturers across assigned territories in Canada and/or the U.S.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through direct outreach, site visits, industry events, and trade shows
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, procurement managers, R&D directors, food scientists, and product developers
  • Work closely with customers’ R&D and technical teams to understand formulation needs and recommend suitable ingredient solutions
  • Manage key accounts, including pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and long-term relationship development
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events
  • Collaborate internally with technical, regulatory, and supply chain teams to support customer projects and ensure successful commercialization
  • Track sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts using CRM tools
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to support strategic planning
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • 3–7+ years of experience in B2B sales, account management, or business development within the food ingredient, food manufacturing, or related industries
  • Experience selling to or working directly with food manufacturers
  • Strong understanding of food formulations, ingredients, and product development processes
  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites and industry trade shows
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada or the United States

Preferred:

  • Existing industry relationships with food manufacturers, buyers, or R&D professionals
  • Experience with specialty ingredients (e.g., functional ingredients, flavors, proteins, additives, nutritional’s, or processing aids)
  • Prior experience covering both Canadian and U.S. markets
  • CRM experience (Salesforce or similar)
