Under broad supervision, responsible for implementing occupational safety and health activities to ensure compliance with regulations. This role may be at a plant or corporate level and typically requires 3 to 5 years of experience.

Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network, including over 30,500 tank and freight cars across 27 repair locations serving various markets.

This position is based in Edmonton, reporting directly to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the Director, HSE. Responsibilities include implementing safety policies, employee training, safety program management, and reporting. Key objectives include health and safety training, enforcement, TRIR achievement, and supervision.

The principal duties include:

  1. Initiate, promote, and maintain health and safety projects and initiatives
  2. Update and deliver safety orientation for new employees
  3. Conduct monthly safety audits and ensure timely follow-up
  4. Provide statistical reports on incidents, injuries, absenteeism, and disabilities
  5. Communicate safety information to management
  6. Monitor and recommend corrective actions
  7. Maintain safety bulletin boards
  8. Ensure legislative compliance (e.g., audiometric, air quality, forklift, WHMIS, First Aid, JHSC)
  9. Update and communicate safety policies and procedures
  10. Conduct hazard analyses and ensure safe work procedures are current
  11. Perform ergonomic workplace analyses
  12. Investigate accidents and respond appropriately
  13. Manage occupational injuries and liaise with WCB and insurers
  14. Manage return-to-work and disability programs
  15. Promote positive employee relations through communication, coaching, and counseling
  16. Perform duties with enthusiasm and a results-focused attitude
  17. Support company initiatives and policies
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned

Preferred candidates will have solid experience in safety and environmental legislation, training, and hold a CRSP designation with at least three years of experience.

This role requires industry knowledge, confidence in leadership, management, coaching, and organizational skills.
