Discovery Kidd is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our safety team at Kidd Operations. You will promote safety, advise, influence, and support all workers on the journey to zero harm while ensuring the safety program stays current and effective across departments.

Reporting to the Risk & Assurance Supervisor, you will develop daily reports, lead incident investigations, and support safety communications and audits at the site. A strong safety background and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Mining experience and safety background within mining operations.
• Knowledge of OHSA and applicable mining regulations.
• Strong communication and computer skills.
• Ability to build relationships and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily safety reporting and incident/injury documentation.
• Coordinate weekly safety reports and leading indicators program.
• Assist with incident investigations (Loss Causation and ICAM).
• Support safety training and on-site safety communications.
• Participate in site access control and document control tasks.
• Contribute to Pre-Work HSEC reviews and JSA development.
• Conduct targeted site audits and field verifications.
• Act as subject matter expert on OHSA and applicable legislation.
• Maintain and support the site KSS system users and access.

The Position:

Reporting to the Risk & Assurance Supervisor, the Safety Coordinator will promote safety by advising, influencing others and supporting all workers on the journey to zero harm. This position will participate with the safety team to ensure safety program is appropriate, current and implemented to reduce the risk of injury to everybody on site and provide health and safety technical expertise to various departments

Key Responsibilities:

• Development of the daily incident/injury report
• Coordinate the Weekly Safety Report and management of leading indicators program (JSOs, PTOS, Safety Tours, CCVs, etc.)
• Support incident investigation at both levels (Loss Causation and ICAM) across all departments
• Development of the monthly Crew Presentation
• Support security function at site, ensuring access is controlled according to existing process
• Document control tasks, including quality review and process management
• Support the operation through planned Pre-Work HSEC reviews and ad-hoc JSA development
• Conduct targeted spot audits/field checks in the workplace (surface and UG), as directed
• Performance of assigned Critical Control Verifications
• Act as a subject matter expert on the OHSA, Reg 854, and all other applicable legislation
• Administration of the site KSS system - update users for active and inactive employees, crews, passwords, permissions etc.
• Support the development of site-wide communications for Hazard Alerts, FYI’s
• All other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

• University Degree, College Diploma or equivalent
• 2 – 5 years of mining experience
• Knowledge of the laws and regulations as it pertains to mines and mining plants
• Knowledge of site-specific policies and procedures
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Excellent skills in computer software/applications
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Capable of prioritizing and organizing workload and assigned tasks and completing work in timely manner

Compensation and Benefits:

Competitive total compensation package including:
