Assignment Description
Our Client and its subsidiaries are seeking the services of one safety advisor to join its team to help support the Non Regulated Engineering Services Project Execution team. The individual will support the execution of projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provideoversight,technicaladvice,supportanddirectiontotheProjectExecutionteam for contract, technical and capital work;
- ProvidecoachingandsupporttoProjectManagersandConstructionManagement Representatives (CMRs) involved in the execution of work;
- EnsuretheContractorSafetyManagementProgramiseffectivelyimplementedthrough front end involvement in tender specifications and bid reviews, and ongoing field monitoring;
- Actasaliaisonwithprojectmanagers,regional/safetyfieldpersonneland CMRs.
- Coordinateandprovidecoachingforincident investigations;
- Assistnewstaffwithsafetyreportingandsafetyobservations;
- Reviewcontractorsitespecificsafetydocumentation/safetyplansandprovide feedback;
- Participateincontractor“kickoff” meetings;
- Performfieldwork,safetytoursandsafety inspections;
- PromoteandensurecompliancewithHydro’sSafetyManagement System;
- FacilitateprojectriskassessmentsandperformauditsrelatedtoProjectExecutionwork (Contractor Safety Management Programs and the Safety Management Systems);
- LiaisonwiththeCMRsinthefieldregardingsafetyissuesand concerns;
- Deliverinhousetrainingas required;
- CommunicatewithOperationsonaregular basis;
- StrongknowledgeofsafetyoperatingproceduresandrelevantOHSlegislationand associated industry standards;
- Strongknowledgeofcapitalintensive environments;
- Traveltositeasrequiredtoprovidetechnicalinputandfield support.
- Travelandworkatvarioussiteswhereprojectsarebeingcompleted(Menihek,Churchill Falls, Muskrat Falls, Soldiers Pond, etc).
EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Safetytrainingand/oranequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperienceSafety and Health Management Systems
- Auditingandincident investigations
- Developmentofcorporateprogramsand standards;
- Fieldexperience,particularlyrelatingtohydro-electricfacilitiesortheelectricalindustry in general is considered desirable;
- Avaliddriver’slicensewillberequiredastherewillbesometravel involved;
- Abilitytoperformfieldworkinanelectricalutilityandheavyindustrial environments.
