Assignment Description
our Client and its subsidiaries are seeking one Project Manager to lead and support the execution of capital and operating projects in the terminal stations across Labrador. The position will be based in St. John’s, with regular travel to project sites in Labrador.
The Project Manager will oversee the successful planning, execution, and closeout of terminal station projects, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, budgets, and timelines. The role requiresleadershipinprojectmanagement bestpractices, contractoroversight,andstakeholder coordination, with a focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadprojectsfrominitiationtocompletion,ensuringprojectsaredeliveredsafely,on time, and within budget;
- Developandmanageprojectscopes,schedules,andbudgets,includingregular reporting to NL Hydro leadership;
- Coordinatewithengineeringteamstoensureengineeringdesigns,specifications,and deliverables meet corporate standards and applicable codes.
- Overseeandreviewtenderpackages,participateincontractevaluationandaward processes, ensuring quality and value for NL Hydro;
- Manageprojectteams,includinginternalengineers,contractors,andconsultants,to achieve project objectives;
- Conductregularsitevisitstomonitorconstructionactivities,verifyprojectprogress,and provide support to site teams;
- Identify,evaluate,andmitigateprojectrisks,andmaintaintheprojectriskregister throughout the project lifecycle;
- Facilitateeffectivecommunicationacrossstakeholders,ensuringthatapprovedproject changes are reflected in the active budget and schedule;
- Reviewandapprovetechnicaldocumentation,includingcommissioningproceduresand designs for communication equipment related to utilities.
- EnsurecontractorcompliancewithNLHydro’sContractorSafetyManagementPlanand corporate and Contractor HSE policies;
- Supportthedevelopmentoftechnicalspecificationsforcommunications equipment.
- Leadprojectcloseoutactivities,ensuringsmoothtransitionofcompletedassetsto operations;
- Promotecontinualimprovementthroughlessonslearned,innovativeapproaches,and sharing best practices with other project teams;
- SubmittimesheetsanddocumentationinaccordancewithNLHydro’sproject management requirements;
- Otherdutiesas assigned.
EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’sdegreeinengineeringandregisteredasprofessionalengineer(P.Eng)with theProfessionalEngineersandGeoscientistsofNewfoundlandandLabrador(PEGNL) association is preferred.Equivalent professional engineering (P. Eng) registration can be considered;
- ProjectManagementProfessional(PMP)certificationfromtheProjectManagement Institute (PMI) or other similar PM certification is preferred;
- Strongknowledgeoftheprocurementandcontractingprocess,contractormanagement and contract negotiation skills;
- Strongexperienceinprojectcontrols,planning,scheduling,andestimatingis considered an asset;
- Provenexperiencemanagingcomplexprojectsinremote locations;
- Strong background in coordinating and managing multidisciplinary engineering project teams(e.g.,electrical,civil,mechanical)andcollaboratingwithdesignandconstruction groups;
- Demonstratedabilitytomanageprojectsonoperationalindustrialsites,including contractor supervision and adherence to site-specific safety requirements;
