Job summary

Sacred Heart School / École Sacré Coeur in Estevan, SK is seeking an Educational Assistant for a temporary full-time position with SEIU-West. The role supports students with a range of needs on a 6-hour day schedule, Monday to Friday when school is in session.

Responsibilities include assisting with medical needs, occupational and physical therapy support, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring and transportation as required, along with private training and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Post-secondary courses in Early Childhood Development, Educational Assistant, Personal Care Aide or similar are assets.
• Experience with high needs children and supportive care is an asset.

Start Date: December 12, 2026 End Date: June 25, 2027
Hours: 6 hours per day, M to F on student days
Rate of Pay: As per SEIU-West Agreement

Required Skills/Training

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Post-secondary courses in programs such as Early Childhood Development, Educational Assistant, Personal Care Aide or similar related areas and/or related experience would be considered an asset.
• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Physical Assault Response would be considered an asset.
• Experience with, and ability to handle, high needs children with a variety of emotional needs would be considered an asset.
• Experience with, and ability to handle, the needs of Pre-Kindergarten children would be considered an asset.
• Based on the needs of individual students, ability to provide support with medical needs, assistance in occupational therapy, physical therapy, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring and transportation could be required.
• First Aid/CPR would be considered an asset.
• Possess a current and valid driver’s license.
• Training or experience in French Immersion programming will be considered an asset.

Requirements

• Familiarity and understanding of the practices of the Roman Catholic Faith would be considered an asset.
• Recent (within 6 months) Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check upon employment.
