Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted license to practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current CPR certificate.
• College certificate required, diploma preferred.
• Medication Certificate dated after 1985 which meets the requirements of the Ontario College of Nurses.
• Nurses, if graduated before 1985.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competencies and skills that are essential for the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
• Assists in evaluating the health status of patients with complexity of care needs that are well defined and established, with predictable outcomes and manageable responses and provides direct care.
• Shares in establishing priorities for care including preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative aspects.
• Advocates for patients and their caregivers, recognizing them as major decision makers.
• Seeks assistance when knowledge, judgment or skill are insufficient or beyond the scope of practice for a Registered Practical Nurse, or when patient or environmental factors prohibit the delivery of safe and effective care.
• Evaluates the outcome of patient care plan and modifies the plan based on patient responses using professional judgment and reports information with key stakeholders as needed
