Job summary

Stuart Olson Inc. is seeking skilled ticketed tradespeople with strong rigging experience for a turnaround project in Fort McMurray, Alberta. We emphasize safety, quality, and teamwork on a dynamic client site.

Candidates with Journeyperson tickets in Ironworker, Pipefitter, Welder or Millwright, plus solid rigging experience, are encouraged to apply. Travel support from Edmonton/Calgary and competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson tickets in Ironworker, Pipefitter, Welder or Millwright are preferred.
• Rigging experience is a major asset and safety training (CSO/CSTS 09, WHMIS) is mandatory.
• CWB Welders ticket will be considered.
• Fall protection training is required.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize information from blueprints and specs to select materials and quantities.
• Bolt metal structures together per plans and instructions.
• Move heavy metal pieces using cranes and team coordination.
• Ensure proper alignment using levels, lasers, and plumb bobs.
• Fabricate and modify pieces to meet project specs.
• Work at heights or in constrained areas following regulations.

Our Offer to You

• Site: Fort McMurray, AB - Turnaround
• Schedule: 6/1, 12/2, 18/3 & 24/4 based off a 7/7 rotation contract, 12 - 14 hour per days during shutdown & 12 hour days for post. Work scope good until mid-November. Dayshift & Nightshift available.
• Travel: Flights provided from Edmonton and Calgary, Travel allowance program for out of province employees

Responsibilities

• Synthesizing information from a variety of sources, including blueprints, plans and written specifications, in order to select proper materials and the amounts needed for a project
• Using details from written plans and instructions from supervisors in order to securely bolt metal structures like beams and columns together
• Transporting heavy metal pieces from the ground level to a higher location using tools like cranes or working with other team members to help position pieces correctly
• Ensuring proper placement, balance, and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs
• Transforming metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques
• Accessing challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following proper provincial regulations

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Ironworker ticket, Or;
• Journeyperson Pipefitter ticket, Or;
• Journeyperson Welding ticket, Or;
• Journeyperson Millwright ticket, Or;
• Apprentices welcome with valid apprentice ticket
• Competent rigging experience considered biggest asset
• *Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Welders ticket will also be considered
• Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or CSTS 09 and WHMIS, Mandatory
• Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Protection
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing

Working Conditions

• Working at heights when required
• Working in and around noise and dust
• Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
• Must be clean shaven
• Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots

Physical Requirements

• Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance
• Stand or walk for long periods of time
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
