Job summary

Stuart Olson Inc. is actively seeking a Journeyperson Ironworker for our Fort McMurray, Alberta project. This long-term maintenance/turnaround role offers a schedule with extended shifts and overtime, flights from major cities, and comfortable camp accommodations.

You will join a team focused on safe, quality construction with a strong work culture. Required tickets include Journeyperson Ironworker and H2S Alive; additional certifications are a plus. We value safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Ironworker ticket is required.
• CWB Welders ticket will be considered.
• Apprentice ID is required.
• H2S Alive is mandatory.
• CSO or CSTS 09 and WHMIS are mandatory.
• Energy Safety Canada Fall Protection is mandatory.
• Energy Safety Canada Confined Space Entry & Monitor is mandatory.
• SBA mask is preferred.
• Rigging experience is an asset.
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing is required.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize information from blueprints, plans and specs to select materials.
• Bolt metal structures together using details from plans and supervisors.
• Move heavy metal pieces to higher locations with cranes or team lifting.
• Ensure proper placement using levels, lasers or plumb bobs.
• Cut materials and apply fabrication techniques to meet project specs.
• Work at elevations or in confined spaces following provincial regulations.

Schedule:10 on, 4 off, and 7 on, 7 off, 11.5 hours per day (Long-term maintenance rolling into fall shutdown with plentiful overtime)

Responsibilities

• Synthesizing information from a variety of sources, including blueprints, plans and written specifications, in order to select proper materials and the amounts needed for a project
• Using details from written plans and instructions from supervisors in order to securely bolt metal structures like beams and columns together
• Transporting heavy metal pieces from the ground level to a higher location using tools like cranes or working with other team members to help position pieces correctly
• Ensuring proper placement, balance, and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs
• Transforming metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques
• Accessing challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following proper provincial regulations

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Ironworker ticket
• *Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Welders ticket will also be considered
• Apprentice ID
• H2S Alive, Mandatory
• Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or CSTS 09 and WHMIS, Mandatory
• Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Protection, Mandatory
• Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space Entry & Monitor, Mandatory
• Able to work under SBA mask preferred
• Rigging experience considered an asset
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing

Working Conditions
