Job summary

Stuart Olson in Fort McMurray, Alberta, is seeking a Journeyperson Ironworker for a rotation-based project. The role involves assembling structural components, reading blueprints, and coordinating with a safety-conscious crew on site.

Position includes flights from Edmonton/Calgary, a fully renovated camp, accommodations, vacation pay, RRSPs, and health & dental benefits, with days and night shifts available during shutdowns and post-shutdown work. Apply to join a long-standing industrial team.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Ironworker ticket.
• CWB Welders ticket may be considered.
• H2S Alive, Mandatory.
• CSO or CSTS 09 and WHMIS, Mandatory.
• Energy Safety Canada Fall Protection, Mandatory.
• Energy Safety Canada Confined Space Entry & Monitor, Mandatory.
• Able to work under SBA mask preferred.
• Rigging experience considered an asset.
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Synthesizing information from blueprints and plans to select materials.
• Bolt metal structures together using details from plans and supervisor instructions.
• Transport heavy pieces using cranes or assist team in positioning.
• Ensure proper placement and alignment using levels and laser tools.
• Cut materials and fabricate pieces to meet project specs.

Site: Fort McMurray, AB - Turnaround
Schedule: 6/1, 12/2, 18/3 & 24/4 based off a 7/7 rotation contract, 12 - 14 hour per days during shutdown & 12 hour days for post. Work scope good until mid-November. Dayshift & Nightshift available.
Travel: Flights provided from Edmonton and Calgary, Travel allowance provided for out of province workers

Responsibilities

• Synthesizing information from a variety of sources, including blueprints, plans and written specifications, in order to select proper materials and the amounts needed for a project
• Using details from written plans and instructions from supervisors in order to securely bolt metal structures like beams and columns together
• Transporting heavy metal pieces from the ground level to a higher location using tools like cranes or working with other team members to help position pieces correctly
• Ensuring proper placement, balance, and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs
• Transforming metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques
• Accessing challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following proper provincial regulations

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Ironworker ticket
• *Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Welders’ ticket will also be considered
• H2S Alive, Mandatory
• Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or CSTS 09 and WHMIS, Mandatory
• Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Protection, Mandatory
• Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space Entry & Monitor, Mandatory
• Able to work under SBA mask preferred
• Rigging experience considered an asset
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing
