Job summary

Stuart Olson Inc. is seeking Ticketed Ironworker Journeypersons for a long-term maintenance role at our Fort Saskatchewan site. Work with skilled teams in a safety-focused environment, contributing your expertise to critical site operations while enjoying reliable schedules and home most nights.

The ideal candidate holds a Journeyperson Ironworker ticket and relevant safety certifications, can read blueprints, lift heavy materials, and perform assembly, alignment and bolting with precision.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Ironworker ticket required.
• CWB Welders' ticket will be considered as well.
• H2S Alive certification required or in process.
• CSTS 2020, CSTS 09 or PST certification required.
• Confined Space certification required.
• Fall Protection certification required.
• SBA mask proficiency preferred.
• Rigging experience is an asset.
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing required.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize information from blueprints, plans and specifications to select materials and quantities.
• Bolt metal structures together using proper techniques.
• Move heavy metal pieces to elevated work areas using cranes and teamwork.
• Ensure accurate placement, balance and alignment with levels and lasers.
• Cut materials and fabricate to meet project guidelines.
• Perform access in elevated or restricted positions per safety rules.

CSTS 2020, CSTS 09 or PST

Energy Safety Canada Confined Space

Responsibilities

• Synthesizing information from a variety of sources, including blueprints, plans and written specifications, in order to select proper materials and the amounts needed for a project
• Using details from written plans and instructions from supervisors in order to securely bolt metal structures like beams and columns together
• Transporting heavy metal pieces from the ground level to a higher location using tools like cranes or working with other team members to help position pieces correctly
• Ensuring proper placement, balance, and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs
• Transforming metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques
• Accessing challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following proper provincial regulations

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Ironworker ticket
• *Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Welders' ticket will also be considered
• Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive
• CSTS 2020, CSTS 09 or PST
• Energy Safety Canada Confined Space
• Energy Safety Canada Fall Protection
• Able to work under SBA mask preferred
• Rigging experience considered an asset
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing

Working Conditions

• Working at heights
• Working in a confined space
• Working in and around noise and dust
• Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
• Must be clean shaven
• Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots

Physical Requirements

• Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance
• Stand or walk for long periods of time
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
