Job summary

Pub Supervisor
Job Title: Pub Supervisor

Department: Food and Beverage

Reports To: Restaurant Manager

Summary

The Pub Supervisor is responsible for taking orders and serving of food/beverages to guests in a friendly, timely and efficient manner and leading the team of servers and bartenders in the Pub to execute these services at the highest level. This position takes special interest in engaging their customers and creates a positive experience for guests and leads the team to perform in the same manner. The Pub Supervisor ensures that the highest standards of hospitality are demonstrated at all times.

The Pub Supervisor professionally represents the hotel through the creation of a value based workplace environment where team mates and guests are treated in a fair, respectful and honorable manner.

Essential Day to Day Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Take orders accurately and serve food and beverages in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Familiar with all drink and food menus , advise guests on which menu items to purchase and make recommendations about pairing food with beverages.
  • Check IDs and respond appropriately when guests violate state laws or regulations.
  • Assist or Act as the bartender in mixing drinks, preparing for simple orders such as draft or bottled beer.
  • Observe guests and ensure tables are enjoying their food and beverages.
  • Keep an eye out for potentially unsafe situations and ensure that no alcohol is consumed by minors.
  • Respond quickly to guest requests or complaints in a professional manner to ensure appropriate action is taken. Inform supervisors and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Answer the phone with the appropriate greeting and answer any questions within your ability.
  • Routinely clean, organize work areas, glassware, and silverware.
  • Knowledgeable of hotel property, amenities, area attractions and transportation to increase guests’ satisfaction .
  • Keep the bar area and work stations stocked appropriately and to note items out of stock on weekly order sheet.
  • Collect payments from customers, process credit card transactions, and accurately manage cash transactions.
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required.
  • Follow federal, provincial, and company policies/regulations for serving alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of Sanitation and Food Safe procedures as established by the Health Board and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the training and development of all pub staff.
  • In collaboration with the Food and Beverage Manager and culinary team creates specials, marketing campaigns and other programs for special occasions to promote and grow the business.
  • Participates in the Purchase Order System following all company protocols.
  • Works with the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure that all Beer, Liquor and Wine products are ordered, stocked and promoted in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participates in the recruiting and hiring of staff.
  • Collaborates with the Food and Beverage manager with regards to performance management for all team members.
  • Works with the team to create and develop strategic menus and recipes to meet the standards of the company and compete at the highest level in our market.
  • Stay safe all the time. Following our safety procedures, you will report all incidents and put safety first for yourself, your team mates and our guests.
  • Take pride in your appearance and position as a hotel ambassador. Follow all department uniform and grooming requirements.
  • Always know what events and activities are on the day’s schedule in the hotel and neighborhood.
  • Jump into other ad-hoc duties when your colleagues need your assistance.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with all departments in the hotel to work together to deliver the most memorable experience to the guest.
  • Adhere to all brand and company standards, policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by your direct report.
