Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health seeks an experienced People Health Accommodation Advisor to guide sustainable accommodations for ill or injured staff and support safe returns to work. You will collaborate with the People Health Team and Workplace Health to craft plans, educate stakeholders, and ensure compliant decisions on accommodations.

In this role, you will assess employee limitations, coordinate with HR and managers, and monitor outcomes.

Qualifications

• University degree in a related field; HR or disability management credentials preferred.
• 5–7 years’ experience in a unionized health care setting or equivalent.
• Knowledge of human rights, labour code and collective agreements desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, support and education on accommodations and return-to-work plans.
• Identify sustainable accommodation opportunities and collaborate with HR and managers.
• Establish accommodation plans addressing limitations and workplace demands.
• Orient employees, set expectations, and ensure smooth re-entry into work.
• Follow up on accommodations to assess effectiveness and next steps.
• Conduct legal analysis to determine if accommodation should proceed given undue hardship.
• Share medical information to help assess suitability of accommodations.
• Review Disability Attendance Forms and determine appropriate actions.
• Educate stakeholders on disability management, HR policies and rights.
