THE ROLE

Imagine the excitement and ability to show off your incredible skills in a deployed environment (overseas) for six months supervising a retail store for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and partner nations from across the world! As a deployed Retail Supervisor, you are not just providing retail services, but enhancing the morale and welfare of all the troops deployed.

The Retail Supervisor is part of an enthusiastic team of adventurous individuals who enjoy meaningful employment and contributing in a team-based environment. Excited by the opportunity to deploy as a civilian among CAF personnel abroad, you are a team player with a positive attitude in a fast-paced setting. You are able to adapt to new challenges in an ever-changing dynamic environment.

The Retail Supervisor leads and manages all other retail staff to accomplish incredible success. You are responsible for leading and managing the retail team and operations to great success! You will enforce the health, hygiene, safety, and security standards and programs. Other responsibilities include preparing regular cash audits, periodic reconciliation of deposits, authorizing refunds, voids, and returns, and holding keys, safe combinations, and access codes. You will ensure the distribution of merchandise to outlets and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained. You are responsible for an effective monthly inventory of the store and managing contracts and must have an understanding of the store’s financial statements, inventory management, and supply chain. You ensure the implementation and maintenance of loss prevention controls.

The Retail Coordinator plays an important role in enhancing the morale of CAF and partner nations by assisting with recreational activities and events. Keeping the military energized ensures they are mentally and physically ready to sustain the difficulties of military operations, and live healthy balanced lives.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

An acceptable combination of education, training and experience

Must have a valid Canadian passport

Valid Canadian driver’s license (Class G or Class 5)

Experience

In cash handling

In serving menu items

In organizing functions

In administrative procedures

In applying policies, procedures and relevant legislation

In inventory control and financial administration

In ordering merchandise

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Additional Qualifications Prior to Deployment

Completion of a health, dental and psychosocial assessment

Security screening

Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications

Ability to walk and lift, carry, pull / or push heavy items

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Recruiting for positions with multiple language requirements.

  • Bilingual (English and French) Essential with the following language profile :

Reading : Functional

Writing : Functional

Oral : Functional

Candidates meeting the Bilingual Essential requirement will be considered for all available positions (both English Essential and Bilingual Essential).

JOB INFORMATION

POSITION TYPE

Civilian deployment contracts are 6-month terms. Deployment start dates may take place within the next 2 years.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary : $42,590-$47,220 for six months.

Hours of work : Maximum 56 hours per week, which includes weekdays and weekends.

Tax free allowance : Possibility of up to $1,756 per month in addition to your salary (allowance rates are based on mission / location / date).

Home leave and travel allowance : Possibility of paid leave and travel allowance.

Accommodations and meals : Provided for duration of deployment.

Health benefits : Drug coverage, travel insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

Excursions : Possibility to explore and experience the local culture and environment through activities like excursions off base.

Successful candidates will be invited to participate in a multi-day training and selection course.

Date : September 19 , 2025 - September 28, 2025

Compensation : Fully paid attendance, including travel, accommodations and meals

Purpose : You will learn more in-depth about the day-to-day expectations, technical work-related training, as well as a basic understanding of military practices and procedures. This will give you an opportunity to learn more about our organization as well as interact with like-minded people that may be deploying with you. Your completion of the training session will be valid for 2 years.
