Job summary

SJH St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton's Retail Gift Shop seeks a part-time Retail Shift Supervisor for a 12-month term. The role reports to the Retail Site Manager and focuses on customer service, cash handling, and store operations to meet sales targets.

The position includes weekends and varied afternoon/evening shifts in-person at the hospital shop. Ideal candidates have grade 12, 1–3 years in retail, strong POS skills, merchandising ability, and teamwork.

• Minimum grade 12 education required.
• 1–3 years of retail sales and customer service experience.
• Strong POS and cash balancing skills, and merchandising ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide exemplary customer service.
• Process cash transactions accurately and balance POS daily.
• Restock to drive sales and ensure correct prices and signage.
• Assist with store setup and year-end inventory counts.
• Supervise volunteers and assign daily tasks.

Position Summary:

The Retail Shift Supervisor reports directly to the Retail Site Manager and is responsible for maintaining store operations performing daily functions/tasks and provide exemplary customer service in order to achieve sales budgets and maximize profit.

Qualifications:

• Minimum grade 12 education
• 1-3 years’ experience in retail sales and customer service
• Excellent sales point of sale and cash balancing skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative
• Proven display and merchandising skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Team oriented

Responsibilities:

• Provide exemplary customer service
• Provide accurate and efficient service at cash and comply with procedures for daily balancing of the Point of Sale System
• Restocking in order to drive sale ensure prices are correct and signage is appropriate and in good condition
• Participate in planning and executing of store set-up assists with preparation and count of the yearend inventory
• Supervise and guide volunteers assign tasks and distribute their daily work
• All other duties as assigned
