Job summary

Jarlette Health Services’ Leacock Care Centre in Orillia, Ontario, invites applications for a Restorative Care Aide. Under the Restorative Care Coordinator, you will deliver restorative services, assist with ADLs, mobility, and feeding, and support resident independence and safety.

The role requires completion of restorative care training (or enrollment), ongoing education, and comfort with documentation and interdisciplinary teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a restorative care training program or enrollment in one
  • Active commitment to ongoing education in restorative care
  • Must be flexible, innovative and creative
  • Experience in geriatric rehabilitation or long-term care is an asset
  • Must be computer literate and comfortable with documentation

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct resident care, including ADLs, mobility and feeding
  • Assess and address restorative care needs and progress
  • Execute therapy programs (Physio, OT, Speech) under supervision
  • Document resident status and progress with accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain safety and OHSA compliance; participate in CQI and risk management
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to ongoing education

Leacock Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Orillia, Ontario and serves 145 residents. The community is approximately 30 km north-east of Barrie and is known for outdoor recreation, history, culture and lakeside living. Commonly known as the Sunshine City, Orillia boasts extensive waterfront trails and parks, a thriving arts and culture scene and a charming historic downtown teeming with excellent shopping and dining choices.

Join our team as a Restorative Care Aide!

Under the direction of the Restorative Care Coordinator, the Restorative Care Aide will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of restorative care services.

This role involves providing comprehensive resident care and rehabilitation support, with a strong focus on promoting resident independence and safety. Key responsibilities include direct resident care (ADLs, mobility, feeding), assessing and addressing restorative care needs, executing therapy programs (Physio, OT, Speech), and meticulously documenting resident status and progress. The role also requires strict adherence to safety and OHSA guidelines, active participation in CQI and Risk Management, effective interdisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing education.

We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:

  • Successful completion of training program in restorative care, or are enrolled in such a program; or
  • Have successfully completed a relevant training course provided by the licensee that is designed and supervised by a qualified therapist who is a member of the appropriate college of a regulated health professional as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss. 79 and Ontario Regulation 67/22 (2).
  • Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education
  • Must be flexible, innovative and creative
  • Experience in geriatric rehabilitation or Long Term Care (Gerontology) is an asset.
  • Must be computer literate
