Job summary

Shannex Incorporated in Miramichi, NB, is seeking a Permanent Part-Time Restorative Assistant (0.8 FTE) to join Parkland on the River - Losier Hall. The role includes assisting with physical therapy and restorative activities for residents, under supervision of PT/OT staff.

The position requires First Aid & CPR/BLS, ANBLPN registration or restorative assistant diploma, or related degree, and strong English communication. Benefits include health, pension, and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers individual and group physical therapy.
  • Administers and assists residents with therapeutic intervention programs as developed by the PT and OT.
  • Assists residents in ambulation, with or without an ambulatory aid, under the direction of the Physiotherapist.
  • Documents according to policy and procedures (e.g Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, incident reporting, PPCA, Critical Incidents etc.).
  • Observes and monitors residents’ response during treatment and responds accordingly to ensure safety; note conditions and progress for reporting to PT/OT.
  • Maintains equipment inventory and assists with department audits, cleaning and inspections.

We are searching for a Permanent Part-Time (0.8 FTE) Restorative Assistant to join our Parkland on the River - Losier Hall team based in Miramichi, New Brunswick.

About The Opportunity
  • Prepares and administer individual and group physical therapy;
  • Administers and assists residents with therapeutic intervention programs as developed by the PT and OT, such as range of motion, progressive resistive and stretching, ADLs;
  • Assists residents in ambulation, with or without an ambulatory aid, under the direction of the Physiotherapist;
  • Documents according to policy and procedures (e.g Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, incident reporting, PPCA, Critical Incidents etc.);
  • Observes and monitors residents’ response during treatment and responds accordingly to ensure safety; note conditions and progress for reporting to PT/OT;
  • Maintains equipment inventory and assists with department audits, cleaning and inspections.
About You
  • Current First Aid & CPR or BLS Certificate (required);
  • Active registration with the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses (ANBLPN); OR a restorative assistant diploma from an approved college or you have a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, or applicable education in the health sciences field. If you are currently enrolled in these programs, your application will be considered;
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check upon hire;
  • Advanced proficiency in the English language is required
  • U-First training or a Dementia Care Course would be considered an asset;
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
