Job summary

Calgary Sports and Entertainment operates a signature wood-fired restaurant at Scotia Place in Calgary, seeking an Assistant Manager, Restaurant who will lead front-of-house teams and deliver elevated dining in a dynamic sports and entertainment environment.

This hands-on role focuses on service standards, staff development, and seamless operations during games, concerts, and events, with collaboration across Culinary leadership to ensure food quality and timely service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive hospitality experience.
• Experience in upscale casual dining or high-volume environments is preferred.
• Experience supporting restaurant openings or building service teams is an asset.
• Strong understanding of restaurant operations and service standards.
• Ability to develop and coach staff in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day restaurant operations maintaining high food, beverage and hospitality standards.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures and dining room readiness.
• Provide hands-on leadership to front-of-house staff during service.
• Help develop and execute service standards reflecting the wood-fired concept.
• Collaborate with Culinary leadership to ensure quality, presentation and timely service.
• Oversee dining room operations, guest flow, reservations and seating arrangements.
• Respond to guest feedback and lead service recovery when needed.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate priorities and event requirements.
• Support staff scheduling, labour deployment, and payroll administration.
• Monitor performance, labour costs, inventory, and supplier relations.
• Ensure proper POS use, payments, cash handling and billing accuracy.
• Maintain compliance with liquor service, food safety, and safety programs.
• Uphold cleanliness, organization and workplace safety standards.
