Job summary

Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta, seeks a Respiratory Therapist I to assess patients, develop and modify respiratory care plans, and monitor progress across units. You will operate respiratory equipment and work with clinical teams to enhance outcomes while educating patients and families.

This temporary part-time role (FTE 0.81) includes benefits, with shifts that cover days, nights, and weekends. A recruitment incentive of up to $13,000 over 12 months is available.

• Active or eligible CRTA registration.
• Current BLS HCP certification.
• Recent acute/critical care experience within 5 years.
• Ability to work 11.08 hour day/night rotations.
• Ability to work in all areas of the hospital that RT supports.
• Strong communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Strong prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Required Qualifications:

• Active or eligible registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CRTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Recent neonatal ventilation experience.
• Current PALS and ACLS Certification.
• Competency in arterial line insertion, adult intubation, and POCUS for art line insertion.
• Preceptorship/mentorship training.
• Related bachelor’s or master's degree.
