Job summary

VitalAire is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to conduct assessments, initiate treatments, and ensure patient compliance. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals and delivering essential equipment. A candidate should be working towards becoming a Registered Respiratory Therapist and possess strong assessment skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to participate in a rotational after‑hours on‑call schedule.

Responsibilities

• Conduct full respiratory assessments, diagnostics, and evaluate test results.
• Initiate and supervise CPAP/oxygen therapy and BIPAP treatment.
• Deliver equipment and supplies as required and perform routine equipment quality‑control checks.
• Develop and implement respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with clients, physicians, and care teams.
• Provide follow‑up to evaluate effects of the treatment plan, client comfort, and compliance with therapy.
• Assess client home environment for safety; identify and address areas of concern.
• Maintain continuing education and stay current with clinical best practices.
• Comply with and maintain knowledge of all funding processes and systems.
• Participate in sleep duties, including initiating PAP therapy when prescribed.
• Ensure completion of all documentation and forms to initiate therapy.
• Prepare and facilitate funding documents and payment processes.
• Demonstrate and educate patients on usage of products and services.
• Contribute to the growth of the organization by liaising with medical professionals.

Qualifications

• Working toward becoming a Registered Respiratory Therapist; licensed to practice with the provincial governing body.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
