Overview

The Adult & Youth Enrichment Center (AYEC) provides residential and community-based services to children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and complex needs. Our mission is to create safe, supportive, and inclusive environments that promote growth, independence, and overall well-being.

Position Summary

Residential Support Workers play a vital role in the daily care and support of individuals living in our residential programs. This position requires compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills to assist residents with personal care, daily routines, emotional regulation, and skill development while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support residents with personal care, hygiene, and daily living activities.
  • Provide behavioral support and implement individual support plans.
  • Foster independence through skill-building and life skills training.
  • Plan and engage residents in recreational, social, and community activities.
  • Administer medication as required and document accurately.
  • Maintain detailed daily logs, incident reports, and progress notes.
  • Ensure health, safety, and cleanliness within the residence.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, families, and professionals.
  • Respond to crisis situations using approved de-escalation strategies.
Qualifications
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Developmental Services, Child & Youth Care, Social Service Work, Community Justice, Addictions & Mental Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a residential or group home setting preferred.
  • Valid G driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or equivalent is an asset.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage high-stress situations.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavioral intervention strategies is an asset.
Other Requirements
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling, including overnights and weekends.
  • Comfortable supporting individuals with complex needs and behavioral challenges.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual

Pay: $21.86-$26.86 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
