Job Description
We have an immediate opening for a Residential Lead Garage Door Technician in our Edmonton Branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Lead Technician will service and install overhead doors. This is a permanent, full-time position with potential for on call and overtime.
Responsibilities
- Installing sectional (including FinDoor), rolling steel, fire doors, high speed doors, security grilles, roll shutters, bifold doors.
- Servicing and diagnosing problems, providing solutions, and carrying out required work on overhead doors.
- Communicating and coordinating with the scheduler for problem solving, providing solutions, and ordering parts if needed.
- Welding for installation or repair if required.
- Assessing job scope at the beginning of each job and noting discrepancies to your scheduler immediately (e.g., product warranty, site conditions, safety).
- Traveling out of town for installation and service work, including weekdays.
- Providing estimates for person-hours required for service calls and the cost analysis for fixing versus replacing doors.
- Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds depending on job scope.
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold and heat, involving lifting, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, lying down, squatting, kneeling, and managing tools and equipment.
- Completing all paperwork daily, such as timesheets, job work orders, and safety documentation, and submitting them on time.
- Participating in on-call rotation for service if needed.
- Passing pre-employment screening including drug, alcohol, and health assessments as required.
- Possessing a valid driver’s license and the ability to transport products safely.
- Maintaining a strong safety mindset and keeping safety training and tickets up to date.
- Executing additional duties within the operations department as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in service or installation industries.
- Experience in related trades or construction.
- Valid driver’s license.
- CDI certification is an asset but not required.
- Relevant safety training and tickets (e.g., OSSA Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform, First Aid, CSTS) are assets.
- Experience with overhead door servicing/installation is strongly preferred.
- Wearing PPE including a hard hat is mandatory.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Successful completion of pre-employment screening.
- Providing a current Driver’s Abstract at own cost may be required.
