Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. seeks an experienced Residential Driver to safely operate Automated Side-Load trucks on residential routes and perform pre/post-trip inspections. You will ensure curbside collection aligns with schedules while maintaining safety and high service standards.

Responsibilities include reporting defects, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and collaborating with helpers and supervisors to support efficient daily operations. A DZ or higher license with a clean record is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or above in Ontario) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) collection truck along assigned residential routes.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and PPE standards.
• Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth daily operations.
• Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements:
