Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Front End Driver to operate heavy collection equipment, perform safety inspections, and ensure efficient curbside service.

This role requires a DZ or AZ license, a clean driving record, at least one year of commercial driving experience, and a commitment to safety with flexible early-morning starts. You will collaborate with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to meet route schedules, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and comply with safety policies.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (DZ or AZ) with a clean Driver's Abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Ability to meet all safety-sensitive operational standards.
• Strong attendance record and flexibility for early morning start and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Front End truck along assigned commercial routes.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• Operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management promptly.
• Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Adhere to traffic laws, municipal bylaws, safety policies, and PPE standards.
• Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth daily operations.
• Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
