Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Recreation Assistant to plan and implement therapeutic programs that meet social, cognitive, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of residents in a senior living setting.

You will support design and delivery of person-centred activities, work with an interdisciplinary team, and ensure accurate documentation while promoting dignity and independence for residents.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized recreation and leisure program is an asset.
• Minimum of one year experience in recreation programming or activities.
• CPR and First Aid certification is active.
• Food Safe certification is active.
• Serving It Right certification is active.
• Valid Class 4 driver's license is an asset or willing to obtain.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong written communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver person-centred recreation programs reflecting all wellness dimensions.
• Coordinate and implement recreational activities with engagement and purpose.
• Develop resident profiles and assessments to set meaningful short and long-term goals.
• Interview residents/families to gather information on past activities and lifestyles.
• Monitor resident progress and adjust program placements as needed.
• Maintain documentation and progress notes; assist with monthly reports.
