Job summary

Innovasea is seeking a Repair & Technical Support Specialist to join our Bedford, Nova Scotia team. The role focuses on hands-on repair of returned equipment and delivering excellent customer support by phone and email.

You will collaborate with Sales and Engineering on product assembly, QA, and continuous improvement efforts, while maintaining accurate repair records and contributing to training materials for customers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electronic repair.
  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical/Electronic, Ocean technology or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Slack, JIRA, Confluence, Salesforce and Syspro.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring equipment is a plus.
  • First aid training is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and troubleshoot incoming equipment to high quality standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer support via email and phone.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering on product assembly, QA and improvements.
  • Create clear user guides and training materials for customers.
  • Analyze site data to identify issues and optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure remote sites remain online and reliable.

About the role

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring customer systems operate at peak performance. This position is repair-focused, requiring hands-on troubleshooting and repair of returned electronic equipment. The candidate must be comfortable performing detailed repairs, maintaining accurate records in our internal repair database, and ensuring timely updates for tracking and reporting purposes.

In addition to repair responsibilities, the role involves providing exceptional customer support via email and phone communications. The candidate will also collaborate closely with Sales and Engineering teams to assist with product assembly, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll be doing
  • Assess, troubleshoot, and repair all incoming equipment while ensuring rigorous quality assurance standards for outgoing orders
  • Engage directly with customers to understand needs, resolve issues efficiently, and deliver effective solutions
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and confidently through strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Develop clear, user-focused customer education materials, including manuals and quick-start guides, to improve usability and adoption
  • Analyze and interpret data collected from aquaculture sites to identify issues, trends, and opportunities for optimization
  • Take ownership of system reliability by ensuring all aquaculture sites with active equipment remain continuously online
  • Deliver remote training sessions that empower customers to confidently operate and maintain equipment
  • Design, refine, and implement internal procedures to improve the efficiency and reliability of incoming and outgoing equipment handling
What you'll need to succeed
  • At least 5 years experience in electronic repair
  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical/Electronic, Ocean technology or equivalent

  • Experience using software tools such as Microsoft Office, Slack, JIRA, Confluence, Salesforce and Syspro

Position and Location:

This is a full-time position which will be located at Innovasea's facility in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
